Documentation from the the US Dept. of Labor indicate that the IT world handles 80% of job titles with the highest demand in the USA
forecasters are predicting uncanny growth for this career path in the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, it is becoming a lot harder to get started in IT.
In the late 90’s, an aspiring IT worker who could load software and replace a power supply could obtain a high paying IT job.
Flash forward to now it appears that just about everyone knows at least something about computers and a lot of techniques that might have been considered advanced are now basic computer skills.
This has created a much more saturated IT job market and a tougher road to an IT career. IT firms are looking for candidates that can demonstrate their abilities and that have taken the time to get certified and keeping up with the new technologies in order to stay relevant.
